Valencia CF to face Real Oviedo again after 24 years
The last match against the 'Carbayón' side was on April 22, 2001, at the Carlos Tartiere
Manu Vallejo was handed his official debut for Valencia CF in the game against Athletic, coming on in the second half of the 0-1 victory at San Mames.
The 22 year old, who signed for the club in the winter transfer window but was loaned back to Cadiz CF until the start of the 2019/20 campaign, had been included in the squad for Matchday 1 game against Real Sociedad, but was an unused sub.
Against Athletic, he was introduced in the 68th minute to replace Maxi Gomez in the attack, and a weaving run from him nearly set up Denis Cheryshev for a second goal (the shot off his pass would be saved by goalkeeper Unai Simon).
Another second half substitution brought on Ruben Sobrino, who played his first minutes of the campaign when he came on for Cheryshev.
Bar the injured Eliaquim Mangala, all members of the first team squad have now played minutes in official competition this season.
